Changes at the top for AIG Life and further expansion in Singapore for The Fry Group

WH Ireland

WH Ireland appointed Stephen Ford as head of wealth management. His start date is not confirmed yet, but he will be joining the company in February 2019.

After 16 years (between 2000 and 2016) at Brewin Dolphin; where he worked as head of London office, transformation director and head of wealth and investment management, Ford was executive director of City Asset Management for the past two years.

AIG Life

American International Group’s UK branch has appointed Phillip Willcock as chief executive, effective from 1 March 2019. Based in London, Willcock has been tasked with growing business at AIG Life.

He joins from Aviva where he worked for 20 years, holding senior positions such as chief executive and president of its’ joint venture in Indonesia and chief executive of Aviva Italy.

The Fry Group

The Fry Group has named Danny Shiel as senior financial consultant in its Singapore business. The appointment is effective immediately, and Shiel will provide financial planning advice to British expats in Singapore.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in the UK, having run his own financial advisory practice and working for Hargreaves Lansdown.

Alter Domus

Laurent Vanderweyen, chief executive of fund and corporate services provider Alter Domus, has stepped down after a “successful expansion” in the US. The group’s chief financial officer, Aidan Connoly, will take over as interim chief executive until a replacement in named.

Vanderweyen joined Alter Domus in 2012 and was given the top job in 2013.

Legal & General Investment Management

Robert White has been appointed as lead manager of the L&G UK Special Situations Trust. He was a fund manager at Mirabaud Asset Manager before joining L&G.

His appointment is subject to the approval of the Financial Conduct Authority.

London & Capital

London & Capital has appointed Ian Hunter to the newly created role of sales director, as part of a wider recruitment drive at the company.

Hunter joins London & Capital from Sanlam UK where he was responsible for growing the wealth planner team. As sales director he will focus on developing business opportunities and building new teams of advisers.

Nikko Asset Management

Nikko Asset Management has appointed Clive Paine as UK business development director to bolster its European sales. The role will be based in London

Paine has 25 years’ experience in the investment industry where he worked at Jupiter Asset Management and Franklin Templeton Investments.

Allfunds Asia

Mutual fund platform Allfunds Asia has expanded its team with the appointment of Yee Tuck Meng as head of investment solutions for Asia. He was previously vice president, alternatives, for Asia Pacific at Citi Global Wealth Management.

The role will be based in Singapore and Yee will report to Allfunds’ regional manager for Asia.

Nedgroup

South African asset management firm Nedgroup Investment has appointed Nick White as head of UK and European distribution.

White joins the company from Carmignac where he was a partner and head of discretionary business development. He will be based in London and focus on multi-regional business relationships and strategy.
