Mirabaud appoints from Hermes, Asic deputy chair steps down, Columbia Threadneedle appoints for Benelux distribution

Mirabaud

Mirabaud Asset Management has appointed from Hermes to replace Paul Boughton who is stepping into a consulting role.

Selina Tyler will join the firm in November to lead its coverage of external wealth managers, fund of funds and financial institutions markets in the UK and Ireland. Tyler will also oversee relationships with investment platforms in those areas.

Prior to Mirabaud, she was a director in the firm’s UK distribution business for the last six years. She previously worked at Man GLG and has over 15 years’ experience within financial services, fulfilling client service, relationship management and sales roles.

In January 2019, Boughton, the current head of wholesale, will take up a consulting role at Mirabaud Asset Management to give him scope to expand his other business activities at Marketing Alpha Partners.

ASIC

Peter Kell has resigned as deputy chair of Australian Securities and Investments Commission (Asic).

Appointed in 2011, Kell will be replaced from 6 December by Daniel Crennan.

Columbia Threadneedle

Columbia Threadneedle Investments has appointed Katherine Haesaerts as sales director covering Belgium.

Haesaerts is responsible for developing Columbia Threadneedle’s wholesale distribution partnerships and client relationships in Belgium, including IFAs. She will report to Prosper van Zanten, Columbia Threadneedle’s head of Benelux distribution and will work closely with Claude Ewen, existing sales director for Luxembourg and Belgium.

She joins from La Financière de l’Echiquier where she spent two years as sales director for Benelux and Scandinavia, heading the team in charge of the distribution in the region.

Schroders

Schroders has appointed Douglas Bourne as client director in the Middle East Sales team. In this newly created role, Bourne, who is based in Dubai, will be responsible for growing Schroders’s institutional business in the region. His focus will primarily be on sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. He will report to Patrick Grant, head of Middle East at Schroders.

Bourne joins from BlackRock where he held a range of UK and Middle East sales roles across the intermediary and institutional spaces.

Brown Shipley

Brown Shipley has named Paul Smith as client director and wealth planning adviser in its Manchester office.

Smith joins from accounting firm Mazars where he was responsible for the development and delivery of specialist financial planning services to private clients across the north west of England, as well as heading up the practice’s private client offering. Prior to this he was a financial planning specialist at Coutts & Co.

Capital Group

Robeco’s Nick Shaw has joined Capital Group to lead the firm’s distribution efforts with global financial institutions.

He reports to Grant Leon, managing director, financial intermediaries Europe and Asia. Shaw joined Capital Group’s global relationship team on 10 September 2018 and is based in London.

Axiom

Axiom Alternative Investments has appointed Laurent Henrio as portfolio manager and Antonio Roman as research analyst.

Henrio, who brings 16 years of experience in credit trading to the role, joins Axiom from Société Générale.

Roman, meanwhile, joins Axiom as an analyst in its London research team, responsible for developing quantitative models under Solvency II and Basel III.

Roman joins from JP Morgan Asset Management.
