Carrick Wealth announced on 21 May that Ben Nevin had taken up the role of manager – wealth management and advisory – Botswana, with immediate effect.

Key to Africa expansion

Greg Stockton, director of wealth management and advisory, and who heads the Carrick international division, said Botswana was ranked 12th on the continent for the number of high net-worth individuals.

He said the nation was an important component in Carrick’s expansion in the rest of Africa.

“Botswana has political stability and a strong fiscal regulatory landscape, which makes for a great business environment in our sector,” Stockton said.

“Nevin will hit the ground running and ensure we maintain a strong presence in the market,” he said.

The Botswana team expansion follows Carrick opening an office in Malawi in March this year.

Easy choice

Nevin was formerly a wealth specialist for Carrick Wealth in South Africa’s Western Cape.

Carrick chief executive officer Craig Featherby said: “From the get-go, Ben was decisive and maintained a high level of accountability”.

“That, combined with his natural leadership ability, intelligence, and fortitude, made it an easy choice to head-up the Botswana office.”

Nevin holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of South Africa and attended the Carrick Development Academy where he won the top wealth specialist trainee award.
