David Hughes, deVere Acuma’s regional director, has departed after two years in the role and more than a decade with the group.

In a message sent to colleagues, seen by International Adviser, Hughes thanked everyone for all their support and loyalty over the years.

“One person I will always be grateful to is Nigel [Green] for the opportunity, trust and guidance he has given me.

“Finally, if I were starting my career, in the middle of it or even considering the final stretch of my professional journey, I would not consider working anywhere else. There is only one company worth working for in financial services in the Middle East and you are already part of it.”

DeVere Group chief executive and founder Nigel Green later confirmed that “David has stepped down from his current position and is taking a well-earned break whilst he decides on his next career step, which I hope will be within the deVere Group.

“I’m now going to be taking over his role and running the region directly myself. David has made an enormous and valuable contribution to deVere during his 12-years within the organisation. The Board, the entire company and me personally are all full of appreciation for the effort and the achievements he has made.

“We thank him for his leadership, dedication and inspiration over the years and know there is a bright future ahead for him.”

Hughes has been deVere Acuma’s regional director since December 2015 after spending just over eight years as senior area manager for deVere Group, and before that a little over a year as a senior consultant for deVere in Singapore.
