In the newly created role, Jones is expected to continue broadening the firm’s approach to financial planning.
According to chief executive Philip Howell; Julian Palmer, managing director of Rathbone Pension and Advisory services, has been responsible so far for building out the firm’s capabilities in this area, and Jones will further strengthen this approach.
Palmer said: “We have made excellent progress over the past ten years and I am very pleased that financial planning at Rathbones will now benefit from even greater management support, enabling us to continue offering our clients a bespoke, well-rounded service that meets their needs. I look forward to working with Gaius.”
Jones left his position as chief executive of Ashcourt Rowan Financial planning in May 2015, having taken on the role in March 2013.
Prior to that he was a director and senior client partner at Towry.
The appointment follows Rathbones’ announcement in October that it had agreed to purchase the remaining 80.1% of Vision Independent Financial Planning Limited and Castle Investment Solutions Limited to support its strategy of broadening its distribution network.
