PEOPLE MOVES: Hargreaves, LV=, Neptune, Sanlam

Investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown announced a major recruitment drive in its marketing team, while state-backed UK agency Nest poaches LV=’s head of pensions. Neptune hires former M&G head as a special adviser as Standard Life makes a round of promotions.

Hargreaves Lansdown

Platform provider Hargreaves Lansdown has announced it will double its marketing team at its Bristol head office, creating 35 new jobs over the next 18 months.

The company, which had 100 million website visits and 13.8 million trades in 2016, currently employs 71 people in marketing at our head office in Bristol, running all its marketing operations and campaigns in-house without reliance on external marketing agencies.

Nest

LV=’s former head of pensions and investments Ray Chinn is to join the UK’s government-backed auto-enrolment provider the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest).

Chinn served as the insurer’s head of pensions for 10 years and will now join Nest as its head of retirement options.

Gavin Perera-Betts, chief customer officer at Nest, said he has been appointed to lead the work after the government’s consultation on the future of Nest.

Neptune

Michael McLintock, former chief executive of M&G Investments, has joined Neptune Investment Management as a ‘special adviser’ on strategy and distribution.

McLintock retired from M&G early last year having served at the firm for 19 years. He also worked at JP Morgan Investment Management, Mercury Asset Management and Edinburgh Fund Managers, which was acquired by Aberdeen Asset Management in 2003.

The permanent role will see him working closely with Neptune’s distribution and senior management teams.

Neptune also confirmed that Charlie Parker has left the firm following a restructuring of his role as head of distribution. He will join Sanlam, working closely with head of wealth John White.

Sanlam

Sanlam has recruited Paula Eddery, former head of investments at Thomas Miller, as portfolio manager in its London team, and regional manager of its south eastern offices.

Katrina Usher has also joined Sanlam’s financial planning team as regional manager in the north of England. She was previously at AJ Gallagher.

Standard Life

Discretionary manager Standard Life Wealth has promoted John Hair to chief investment officer and Julie-Ann Ashcroft to head of investments.

Both joined the firm following its acquisition of the Newton private client business in 2013 as head of investments and senior portfolio manager, respectively.

Reporting directly to chief executive Richard Charnock, Hair will have responsibility for the overall performance of the firm’s investment portfolios, which have over £6.7bn assets under management, and will form part of it London-based leadership team.

He will also continue to manage portfolios for charities, private clients, trusts and pensions.

Reporting to Hair, Ashcroft will assume overall responsibility for the firm’s Conventional range of portfolios, as well as managing The Balanced Bridge Fund, and the Standard Life Wealth Offshore Income Fund.

Darren Ripton will continue in his role as co-head of investments, having responsibility for the oversight of Standard Life Wealth’s Target Return portfolios.

Henderson

Former Standard Life Investments US equities head Steve Weeple has joined Henderson Global Investors’ global growth equities team as a portfolio manager.
