Reporting to Rob Adams, executive chairman of Henderson Australia, Matt Gaden will be responsible for all aspects of the distribution of the company’s funds across retail and institutional markets.
It is the first significant hire for the company since it announced in May this year its intention to set up a “pure funds management business” in Australia and the appointment of Adams as executive chairman.
Gaden, who has yet to join Henderson, is currently general manager, institutional business & strategic alliances for Challenger, an Australian investment management firm with about AUS$35bn in assets. He has been with Challenger since 2003.
Prior to this Gaden was with First State Investments in the UK and Colonial First State, where he ran the retail business development teams.
In July Nick Evans joined Adams in Australia as executive director. Nick has been at Henderson for over seven years and was head of Henderson’s indirect property business before moving to Australia.
