The company said the the name change reflected an evolution of its business portfolio over the last few years that saw it increasingly focusing on insurance, and less on general financial services products.
“In recognition of this strategic focus, the reference to financial services in the company name has been replaced by indicating the insurance activity of the group instead,” Zurich said in a statement.
The plan to change the company’s name was first unveiled in February, when Zurich released its full-year results, and it was subsequently approved on 29 March at the company’s annual general meeting.
