Schroders

Robin Stoakley is stepping down as head of UK intermediary after 15 years running the retail arm of Schroders.

He will hand the joint reins to James Rainbow, currently head of UK financial institutions and strategic accounts, and Phil Middleton, head of UK intermediary business development.

At the same time, Guy Henriques will return from Japan to become country head for the UK business, reporting to John Troiano, global head of distribution.

Henriques has been country head of Japan from 2012 to August 2016.

Joining Schroders in 2006, he was global head of official institutions in London and then in Hong Kong, where he was also responsible for Schroders’ Asia Pacific institutional business.

As well as the UK intermediary and institutional channels, Henriques will also lead the Latin America business, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico.

Both Rainbow and Middleton will report to Henriques.

Stoakley will maintain a senior role within the firm overseeing the group’s relationships with global financial clients and growing its South African presence. He will report directly to Troiano.

HSBC Private Bank

Siew Meng Tan is to succeed Bernard Rennell as Asia-Pacific head of global private banking at HSBC starting next year, while Rennell becomes a senior advisor to focus more on the client side.

Rennell has been appointed senior advisor to the chief executive for key client coverage on the global private banking team after working as the regional head for nearly three years.

He will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with clients across Asia-Pacific and globally.

Meanwhile, Tan has transferred over from the commercial banking side. Since July 2015, she had been serving as the regional head of global trade and receivables finance for Asia-Pacific.

Rowan Dartington

Rowan Dartington (RD) has appointed former Brewin Dolphin head of intermediary sales John Cowmeadow as the new managing director for its Signature division of discretionary services.

Rowan Dartington Signature is the group’s DFM arm for financial advisers, which for the past 24 months has been run by Guy Stephens.

He now moves into a more technical investment role supporting the client, intermediary and the partner business of St James’s Place, which acquired RD in July 2015. Stephens will also work on growing Rowan Dartington International.

Taking over at Signature, Cowmeadow will work towards developing a national distribution network. Having spent 14 years at Brewin Dolphin, he has also held roles at Newton Investment Management and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Hargreaves Lansdown

Hargreaves Lansdown has appointed a new head of development of its technology division.

Matt Bonetti will be responsible for all software development, tasked with using ‘cutting-edge technology’ to make Hargreaves investment platform ‘the clear market leader.’

He joins Hargreaves from TransVault, an independent software company, where he was chief technologist.

Bonetti spent 16 years working in technology in the City of London before returning to the West Country four years ago.

Zedra

Zedra has appointed Wendy Sim as the new managing director of its Singapore headquarters in a bid to grow its Asian business.

She joins from HSBC Trustee (Singapore), where she was responsible for developing and delivering pan-Asian family governance solutions.

Sim will develop the global trust, corporate and fund service specialist’s Singaporean office, supporting markets in North and South Asia.

With over 20 years experience working with ultra high net worth clients across Asian markets, Sim, a former lawyer, has specialised in wealth management and estate planning for Asia’s corporate and high net worth individuals and their families, said Zedra.

RiverPeak

She will be responsible for growing their investment advisory offering. Launched in December 2013, RiverPeak Wealth provides portfolio management, investment analysis, consultancy, pension and financial planning advice.

Bevan joins RiverPeak from Charles Stanley where she was lead manager in that firm’s collectives portfolio service, co-head of fund research and also sat on their investment strategy committee.

Prior to Charles Stanley, whom she joined in 2003, she worked for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, as well as Merrill’s Private Client Group.
