PEOPLE MOVES: Value Partners, Standard Life Inv., Nordea AM

Value Partners has poached the chief executive of Prudential’s Asian investment arm, Eastspring Investments. Standard Life Investment has named a head of investments, with Nordea Asset Management replacing its outgoing chief executive.

Value Partners

After serving just one year as Eastspring Investments’ Hong Kong chief executive, Au King-lun has been named chief executive of Value Partners, replacing Timothy Tse Wai-ming who announced his resignation in November.

Prior to his year at Eastspring, Au spent five years as chief executive of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Asset Management.

Standard Life Investments

SLI has appointed Archie Struthers to the role of head of investments, effective from 9 January. He joins from Aberdeen Asset Management where he was global head of investment solutions. Struthers will report to Rod Paris, chief investment officer.

He will assume the responsibilities of Bill Lambert, head of investment process who is retiring in March 2017 after 13 years at Standard Life Investments and 27 years in the investment industry.

Nordea Asset Management

Nils Bolmstrand has been promoted to head of Nordea Asset Management. He currently heads up Nordea Life & Pensions, and has previously held managerial positions within Nordea Asset Management and the asset management division of Skandia and Old Mutual. He starts in the new position on 1 January 2017.

Bolmstrand replaces Christian Hyldahl, who is joining Denmark’s ATP as chief executive next year.

Old Mutual Global Investors

Old Mutual UK Equity Income Fund manager Stephen Message has left after seven years at the helm, with UK Alpha team member Ed Meir taking over with immediate effect. No reason was given for his departure.

Meir joined OMGI in 2013 as a research analyst and has more than 16 years’ experience in investment management.

Aberdeen Asset Management

John Campbell will join Aberdeen from State Street in early January as global head of strategic clients reporting to Campbell Fleming, global head of distribution. His role will be focussed on how Aberdeen works even more closely with its largest clients to help them achieve their financial goals.

Jeff Klepacki will also join early in the new year as head of distribution – Americas reporting to Bev Hendry and Campbell Fleming. Klepacki will provide leadership for Aberdeen’s distribution efforts in the Americas. He previously worked at Capital Group, Delaware Investment and Allianz Global Investors.

Antony John, former chief executive BNP Paribas Investment Partners/FundQuest, and Richard Pursglove, who has held senior distribution roles at a number of companies, will join on a consultancy basis to work with senior management on driving forward Aberdeen’s distribution strategy.
