PEOPLE MOVES: FPI, Source, Old Mutual…

FPI has named a new financial director and Source has appointed a UK chief executive. In spite of break-up rumours, Old Mutual Wealth has hired a head of proposition from Sanlam. Both Vonobel and Aviva Investors announced departures.

Friends Provident International

FPI, part of the Aviva group, has appointed Sean Ohuaithne as finance director with immediate effect. He was previously finance transition director for FPI and before that chief financial officer of Aviva Hong Kong.

Ohuaithne, whose appointment is subject to local regulatory approval, will be based in Hong Kong but will spend time in the UK and the Isle of Man this year to assist the business with the implementation of its new operating model. 

Former finance director Kevin Cracknell has decided to leave the group at the end of March to pursue external opportunities.

Source

European ETF provider Source has appointed former head of Old Mutual Global Investors Julian Ide as chief executive of Source UK Services. Ide will join Source in mid-April and brings with him over 25 years’ financial services experience.

Old Mutual confirmed this week that it is considering its strategic options amid growing speculation that the business is breaking its operations into four units and considering the sale of Old Mutual Wealth. An announcement is expected 11 March.

Old Mutual Wealth

OMW has hired Rick Eling from Sanlam as head of proposition for its new national advice business Old Mutual Wealth Private Client Advisers, which was launched in October 2015.

He will be responsible for building the investment solutions for the tied advice company, with the aim to have 250 advisers across 10 offices by 2020.   

Vontobel

Fund manager Rajiv Jain has tendered his resignation after 22 years and will depart the Swiss bank’s asset management business to set up on his own, reports Reuters.

Jain’s 70-strong team within the bank managed about $48bn (£33.8bn, €43.7bn) in assets, a third of Vontobel’s total assets.

Matthew Benkendorf, Jain’s deputy at Vontobel’s New York-based Quality Growth investment boutique, will replace his former boss, the Zurich-based bank said on Monday.

Aviva Investors

Ian Aylward has stepped down as head of multi-manager research at Aviva Investors after five years. Aylward previously worked at Skandia, Rothschild Asset Management, and Collins Stewart Wealth Management.  

Isabel Capodilista will lead the multi-manager research team on an interim basis, reporting to global head of multi-assets Peter Fitzgerald, until a permanent replacement is found.

Rowan Dartington

John Betteridge has been appointed chief investment officer of Rowan Dartington, having joined the company in September 2014 as non-executive director and chairman of the asset allocation committee. He will oversee the discretionary wealth manager’s asset allocation strategy for both private clients and financial advisers.

Formerly chief investment officer for Prudential UK’s insurance division, Betteridge will also head up the investment team, communicate investment guidelines and provide support to portfolio managers, investment executives and research analysts.  

Deutsche Bank

René Keller is to join Deutsche Bank as chief information officer, Private, Wealth & Commercial Clients (PW&CC). He will join the Bank on 1 June 2016 and report to Kim Hammonds, group chief operating officer. He will be based in Eschborn, Germany.

Keller is currently group chief information officer at Deutsche Börse, where he is responsible for IT solutions and service delivery. He was previously chief operating officer of the financial software company Information Mosaic. Earlier in his career, Keller worked in technology roles at Swiss Life, Credit Suisse, and UBS.

Manulife

Canada-headquartered Manulife has appointed Francesco Lagutaine as chief marketing and experience design officer for Asia, and Jason Dehni as chief distribution officer for the region.

Based in Hong Kong, both Lagutaine and Dehni will report to Roy Gori, president and chief executive officer, Manulife Asia. The positions will be effective from 1 April 2016.

Investcorp

Alternative investment products provider and manager Investcorp has named Neil Hasson as managing director to spearhead its European real estate investment initiative.

Hasson will be responsible for developing Investcorp’s European real estate investment business with an initial focus on core-plus opportunities in residential and commercial properties across the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

He will be based in London and will report to Investcorp’s head of real estate investment, Jonathan Dracos, based in New York.

Henderson Global Investors

Stephen Deane has joined Henderson Global Investors from Stewart Investors (previously First State Stewart) as a senior portfolio manager. He will be based in Henderson’s Edinburgh office and work alongside the head of emerging markets equities, Glen Finegan, and the wider emerging markets equities team.

As part of the team build-out in Edinburgh, Michael Cahoon has been promoted from analyst to portfolio manager. Additionally he has been named co-manager on the US mutual fund, the Emerging Markets fund. Nicholas Cowley will also be named as co-manager on the Henderson Gartmore Emerging Markets Fund.
