Zurich names Walter Jopp as distribution head

Zurich has appointed Walter Jopp as head of distribution for its Global Life business in Asia-Pacific and Middle East (APME).

Jopp will be responsible for leading distribution strategy throughout the APME region, working with all countries on their overall plans and specific tactical initiatives to achieve growth.

He will report to Mark Hartigan, chief executive of Zurich’s Global Life business in APME and will relocate to Hong Kong to begin his new role on 1 August, replacing Julian Lipman, who left Zurich at the end of last year to pursue other opportunities.

Hartigan became Zurich’s chief executive for global life business in Asia Pacific and the Middle East from January 1 2013.

He replaces Julian Lipman, who left Zurich at the end of last year to
pursue other opportunities.

Jopp moves from his current position at Zurich as head of business development, bank distribution where he has managed and developed relationships with major global banks.

During his 19 years with Zurich Jopp has worked in the UK, US, Latin America and Europe.

He has been regional manager and head of sales for Zurich International Life and has experience across the range of distribution channels.
