Christopher Andersson has been appointed investment director for sales in Sweden, while Selcuk Acar takes on duties as business development manager for institutional sales in Germany and Austria.

Andersson will be based in the company’s new office and report to co-head of European business, and head of Nordics, Asa Norrie, who is based in Edinburgh.

He was previously sales manager at boutique asset management firm Lannebo Fonder, with a focus on Swedish equities, and before that he worked in the distribution and client relationship teams at Intervalor.

Based in Frankfurt, Acar will work with the company’s existing, three-strong, German team.

He previously held the role of senior relationship manager at Axa Investment Managers for eight years.

SLI said Acar and Andersson will both work to develop and expand new opportunities across the two jurisdictions.

Norrie said Andersson’s appointment, and the opening of a new Swedish office, demonstrate SLI’s commitment to Sweden, and illustrate its plans to expand across the Nordics through its European business team, which now has a total of 18 members.

'Innovative'

“In recent years, we have seen investor demand escalate in Sweden for innovative absolute return solutions,” she said. “We intend to build on this solid base and develop opportunities for growth.”

With European assets under management of 13.1bn, SLI’s SICAV funds are available for distribution in 16 countries across the continent.

In July, the company completed its £39m acquisition of Ignis Asset Management.

The move brought together Ignis’ £65.bn of assets and SLI’s £184.1bn, to put the group’s total combined assets at £250bn.

In addition, Ignis’ parent company, Phoenix Group Holdings, agreed a long-term strategic asset management alliance with SLI, including a mechanism to share value resulting from any further Phoenix assets managed by SLI.
